Movement to Stem Fraud Grows

Senator Roger Marshall led a letter to the EPA, USDA, CBP, and USTR in June urging the agencies to take steps to prevent mislabeled used cooking oil from China and other countries from tainting the US supply. D&W Alternative Energy supports the effort, which in addition to decimating the value of seed oils in the US, has also diminished the value of used cooking oil.

“Recent news coverage has suggested that large amounts of these imports could potentially be virgin vegetable oils fraudulently labeled as used cooking oil and sent here to exploit tax incentives and other renewable biofuels incentives. This dramatic shift in imports is a contributing factor driving down prices for oilseeds in America’s heartland. Senator Marshall was joined by Senator Brown (D-OH), Pete Ricketts (R-NE), Deb Fischer (R-NE), Chuck Grassley (R-IA), and Joni Ernst (R-IA) in sending the letter.” reads a press release from Senator Marshall’s office.
